Titanium Market Price Analysis – First Week of September 2025
Titanium Market Price Analysis – First Week of September 2025
Market Overview
(1) Titanium Ore
1. Domestic titanium ore (in China):
This week, domestic titanium ore prices remained generally stable. As of now, medium and small producers quote 46,10 ore at RMB 2,180/ton, 38-grade ore (excl. tax) at RMB 1,500–1,600/ton, and 47,20 ore at RMB 2,300–2,350/ton. With limited operating rates downstream and weak inquiries, new transactions are stagnant. Rising processing costs keep smelters under pressure, so titanium ore prices are temporarily stable.
2. Imported titanium ore:
Import titanium ore prices also stayed firm. Mozambique titanium ore CIF price is around USD 370/ton, while Kenya 47–49 grade ore (ex-factory, incl. tax) is around USD 360/ton. With overseas quotations remaining high, Chinese buyers remain cautious. Import ore prices are expected to continue stable operation.
(2) High Titanium Slag
In northern China, enterprises tendered around 10,000 tons of high titanium slag this month. However, weak downstream demand has kept the market sluggish, with prices showing a steady-to-weak trend.
(3) Titanium Tetrachloride
Titanium tetrachloride prices remained stable at RMB 5,900–6,500/ton. Downstream demand is weak, and high prices are hard to close. Market competition remains intense, keeping prices at the lower end.
(4) Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂)
The titanium dioxide market held steady this week.
-
Rutile type (including tax): RMB 13,000–14,300/ton
-
Anatase type (including tax): RMB 13,300–13,600/ton
Shipments remain average, with downstream buyers mainly making rigid-demand purchases. New orders are stagnant, and some producers face pressure to move stock. Market sentiment is cautious, with buyers mostly on the sidelines.
(5) Sponge Titanium
The sponge titanium market stayed stable this week.
-
Grade 1: RMB 50,000–51,000/ton
-
Grade 0: RMB 51,000–52,000/ton
Although major producers such as Guotai and Xiangrun reduced production in September, weak demand in the civilian sector led to rising inventories. Sporadic low-price deals in some regions further disrupted sentiment. Despite this, mainstream sponge titanium prices remain steady for now.
Outlook
-
Titanium raw materials: Supply-demand imbalance is expected to persist.
-
Titanium dioxide: Some de-stocking at plants may support stable prices.
-
Sponge titanium: Supply reduction will keep prices stable, though pressure from weak civilian demand remains.
